Non Voting Member Information
What is the difference between a voting and non-voting member?
- According to our by-laws, there are times certain decisions need to go to our members for a vote. Because this is a co-op to serve homeschooling families, we want to be sure that those families get a voice in any changes. Therefore, votes are limited to families with a school aged child in attendance at ECWPA. But, we do recognize that there are those in our community (both homeschooling and public alike) that enjoy teaching and providing enrichment opportunities. In an effort to still make sure they can commnicate with the classes they teach, and have access to the membership site, a non-voting membership was created.
Who should apply for a non-voting membership?
- Community members looking to teach at our co-op and not have their children attend
- Those with pre-schoolers who have chosen the path to homeschool and are participating in a limited capacity of any preschool programming we choose to open up further than as a courtesy to the younger siblings of compulsory age children. Please note, this option is subject to availability based on our current voting membership and the classes that have been offered and is evaluated each semester on if we can offer it.
How much is a non-voting membership?
- A non-voting membership is $30 per school year. There may be additional fees associated with preschool programming.
How do I become a non-voting member?
- All requests for non-voting membership is subjected to an approval process and may require communication with our Executive Director.
- All members, voting and non, much submit adhere to our background check and clearances policy and submit their paperwork.
- Your member fees are due by the first day of classes for the semester that you're registering.
How do I apply?
- The application process for voting and non-voting members is almost identical. The first step is to fill out this application.
- Note for Teachers: When you get to the field that asks for mandetory child information, please select the trashcan icon at the top right of that box to delete the field so it doesn't get marked as missing required information.
- When it asks you your section, select "non voting member."
- At the bottom, when it asks if you have a message for the administrator, please give some information on why you're selecting non-voting member (is it to teach a class, or for the preschool program.
- Currently, our system auto-bills the voting $50 member dues by default, and the $150 per semester registration fees in order to sign up for classes. If you are signing up as a non-voting member, the fees will need to be manually adjusted on our end, and will be. Please contact registration@ecwpa with any concerns regarding this.
