At ECWPA, we appreciate self-expression and individuality. However, it is important to remember our mission is to support each other in this homeschooling journey. It is not our intention to try to police our members, or to become legalistic with man-made standards, but to provide a set of guidelines so each family can approach the concept of proper attire in the way they see fit. Remember, even in a community of like-minded individuals, we each apply principles in different ways. We ask that our families are sensitive in areas where others may have concerns, even when you may not personally share those concerns.
Modesty Guidelines For All Members:
-
No graphics, sayings, or logos that are obscene (either sexually or violence/gore), promote drug/alcohol/tobacco use, profane, negative towards a specific group of people (Ex: race, religion, or political party), or overtly anti-Christian in nature.
-
Shorts and skirts should be of modest length. If there is a question of whether or not the clothing is modest, we follow the “Rule of Thumb”. (Meaning where your thumbs reach when they are at your sides.)
-
Please note that any holes, tears, slits, or rips in your pants, shorts, or skirts should also adhere to this guideline as much as possible. If you are wearing something with rips or a slit that exposes skin on your upper thigh, you may be asked to wear something under it or cover it up.
-
Tops should be well fitting with a modest neckline, not sheer, and long enough to meet the tops of your pants or longer.
-
Proper undergarments should be worn at all times.
-
Clothing should be appropriate for the activity of the day.
